About Us

Intersections: A Resource Centre for Marginalized Genders is ran by a collective of active, committed volunteers that are dedicated to the physical, emotional, and psychological wellness of all people with marginalized genders. As such, our purpose spans across a broad spectrum, both in meeting the individual needs of the visitors to our Centre, as well as working toward personal wellness, awareness, education, and advocacy for the community as a whole.

We offer a number of free resources including menstrual products, a safe space to relax, emergency diapers, private breast-feeding and changing area, peer counselling, information about community resources,  pamphlets, and more. See our Resources page for a full list.

Our Goals

As a Collective we aim to:

  • Create a space on campus where marginalized genders can rest, discuss, find resources/services, and connect with other like-minded people.

  • Provide volunteer training, client services, and resources that raise our collective awareness and understanding of gender, politics, race, history, religion, colonialism, class, etc. in ways that disrupt normative narratives.

  • Create a campus presence and events that uplift and celebrate stories of those whose identities are traditionally silenced.

More Details

Our volunteers are trained in crisis intervention and are knowledgeable concerning the multi-faceted range of issues facing people with marginalized genders. We are available for informal peer support and can provide referrals to various campus and community services. Anyone needing a safe space, a confidential source of information, or simply someone to talk to is welcome to stop by!

We have numerous resources available to students in our academic and self-help library, which includes books, files, journals, and videos. We offer a variety of free products to students and staff, including condoms, lubricant, pads, and tampons which are available to those who need them on an individual basis. We are also available to organizations and groups for workshops and presentations. For more information about our resources and services, please explore the Menu options located at the top of this website!

In keeping with our mission, Intersections is committed to social justice. We embrace and uphold diversity of culture, ethnicity, class, religion, race, age, size, gender, and sexuality; as well as unique physical, emotional, and intellectual challenges. We are committed to consciousness raising and the empowerment of people of marginalized genders, and advocate both with and on the behalf of oppressed and marginalized groups. Intersections is determined to help facilitate a campus environment that fosters students' personal development, social awareness, and academic growth.
